I was super excited to be staying at the Sheraton knowing that about a hundred feet away there’s the old Sears building aka the Global Market which houses some of the best food fast food in Minneapolis. The first place on my journey into the Global Market was Manny’s Tortas. It really didn’t have too many reviews online yet but the ones that it did get were really positive. The online reviews all seems to mention the Special and when I went to the counter the lady also recommended it as well.
The Manny’s Special came with avocado, ham, steak, cheese, tomato, mushroom, honey mustard, and jalapeños. It really reminded me of how a Philly cheese steak sandwich would come…just a bunch of piping hot diced up bits of food grilled up together and thrown into a hoagie or roll. In the spirit of cheese steaks, it was also really messy to eat as well. Grab yourself a fork and save your self the mess. Flavor-wise my favorite thing about this torta was the grilled steak and the spiciness from the jalapenos. This little six inch sandwich is definitely a gut bomb but I was fricking worth it. The torta and a bag of Lay’s chips came out to a total of $9.65.
In summary, I know there are a lot of places in the Global Market that serve tortas in the Global Market but these guys do it the best.
Note – I guess I should also mention this place is kind of amazing everything kind of looks the same here so just kinda make your way around eventually you’re fine and he’s talked it in the far end of the building from the main entrance. There’s tons of common seating area for all the food stands in the Global Market. Sometimes they have events in the center which take up some seating but you should still be able to find seating easily. If you’re looking for parking there’s a parking garage directly east of the building.
